INDIGENOUS PROJECT OFFICER POSITION WITH SCREENWEST OPEN FOR APPLICANTS

ScreenWest is calling for applicants for the position Indigenous Project Officer who will research sources of Indigenous funding and play a key role in devising, negotiating and securing funding for new production opportunities for Indigenous Filmmakers.

ScreenWest is an agency of the Western Australian Government that seeks to advance Western Australia as a competitive, creative, and culturally distinctive centre for screen production. ScreenWest is a vibrant organisation that values innovation. As a key member of the ScreenWest team, this position works closely with the Director Production Development and the Chief Executive. The position researches sources of Indigenous funding and plays a key role in devising, negotiating and securing funding for new production opportunities for Indigenous Filmmakers. The officer also manages existing Indigenous Funding Initiatives and provides advice and support to local Indigenous filmmakers.

This vacancy will be offered as a 2 year full-time contract (part-time will also be considered) with a possible extension for a further two year period.

LOCATION: Perth

JOB DESCRIPTION: To maximize opportunities to develop and advance Indigenous filmmaking and storytelling in Western Australia. To work on formulating key business partnerships and advocacy plans to advance the Western Australian Indigenous screen industry.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Candidates written applications must clearly demonstrate that they meet all of the essential criteria to be considered for an assessment.

ESSENTIAL

1. Under Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, Aboriginality is considered an essential occupational qualification.

2. Current or recent experience in Arts Administration and/or demonstrated success in the management and administration of programs and projects, with specific targets and outcomes.

3. Excellent research and report writing skills.

4. Demonstrated experience in consulting with Indigenous people in a culturally sensitive manner.

5. Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate clearly and manage relationships with colleagues and clients.

6. Excellent computer skills (including ability to use common computer applications eg. Outlook, Excel)

 

DESIRABLE

1. Knowledge and/or experience in Indigenous media and film production.

2. Experience in government procedures and processes.
