AWG: ‘In Conversation’ with Neal Kingston
The Australian Writer’s Guild (AWG) is holding a free ‘In Conversation’ Q&A event with producer Neal Kingston on Tuesday, 22 May 2012 at the AWG offices in Northbridge. Call for Entries: MIFF 37 South and ScreenWest special initiative
MIFF 37 South will be running a special initiative in partnership with ScreenWest, enabling emerging WA screenwriters and directors to participate in the 2012, 37 South PostScript and Direct market held in Melbourne. Successful applicants will travel to Melbourne to meet and pitch to a range of experienced Australian/NZ producers and interest them in their work in a series of organised meetings followed by networking and industry events. WA digital project selected for Cross Video Days Market in Paris
WA transmedia project ‘209 days’ has been selected for the Cross Video Days Market in Paris this June. Cross Video Days is a premier European conference and market specifically for digital content producers and creators to foster connections with commissioners from the main European broadcasters and major distribution companies. ‘209 Days’ came out of ScreenWest’s From Concept to Pitch workshop earlier in the year, receiving the People’s Choice Award. The group was mentored by Danielle Giles from Inkubator, who has now partnered with The Workshop Productions on ‘209 Days’. Read on for further details on the project. Read More

'Red Dog' and 'Mad Bastards' screen as part of Cannes Antipodes
WA feature films, ‘Red Dog’ and ‘Mad Bastards’ will screen throughout May at Cannes Antipodes, the official sidebar event as part of the Cannes Cinephiles program. WA Crew Employment Incentive Fund: Closing 14 May
The WA Crew Employment Incentive Fund is a financial incentive to encourage local producers to employ Western Australian practitioners. Eligible producers must have completed and audited a production on which they engaged crew in Qualifying Crew positions. Projects that have not been audited by the closing date of 14 May 2012, but have had a TX date prior to 30 June 2012, will be able to submit an application in anticipation of the completed audit report. When the project audit has been delivered to ScreenWest, any due funds will then be issued to the production company. Applications close 5:00pm Monday, 14 May 2012. Read More

Michelle Glaser reappointed as Digital Project Manager
ScreenWest is pleased to announce the reappointment of Michelle Glaser as the ScreenWest Digital Project Manager on a 12 month contract. Michelle has been working at ScreenWest in this role on a part time basis during 2011 and then full time since 2012. During the last 16 months, she has developed a number of successful projects and initiatives including the 2011 and 2012 X|Media|Lab events, the From Concept to Pitch workshops, the SBS Online Internship, with over 27 projects supported for development and 9 for production in this time. ‘Jack the Ripper’ screens on Channel 7 this Wednesday
'Jack the Ripper: Australia's Killer', the new documentary from Perth based production company, Prospero Productions, will premiere at 10:00pm on Wednesday, 9 May 2012 on Channel 7. Narrated by Dennis Cometti, the documentary revisits the story of one of the most gruesome and unsolved crimes in history.
