Funding Overview

ScreenWest's funding and support programs are designed to:
  • Foster the development and production of quality, marketable film, television and digital projects;
  • Expand the creative and professional development of Western Australia's film and television key creatives and crew, and digital specialists; and 
  • Promote Western Australian screen culture.
The Funding Program focuses on six core areas: Production; Development; Production company and practitioner support; Indigenous; Digital; and Screen Culture.  Funding initiatives are provided in each area, with each fund having specific objectives, guidelines and eligibility criteria. 

In 2010-11, $8.6million was allocated in grants and investment funds through the Funding Program.

ScreenWest also provides funding to the Film & Television Institute (FTI) to manage and deliver a range of initiatives that support the emerging screen sector.  Visit the FTI website for more information.

If you are applying for ScreenWest funding, we highly recommend that you also consider Screen Australia’s funding programs.  Screen Australia provides support to Australian film, television, documentary and digital media makers. Please see the Screen Australia website for details.

How to Apply

Before you submit an application carefully read the ScreenWest Terms of Trade and the specific program guidelines to ensure that you/your project is eligible for funding. Then check that you have all the supporting material that is required for your application. All applications are assessed competitively against each other.  Therefore it is critically important that you supply all the information required and clearly address the relevant criteria.

Applications must be received by 5:00pm on the closing date. ScreenWest reserves the right to not accept incomplete or late applications.

All ScreenWest funding ‘rounds’ are advertised in ScreenWest’s e-newsletter ScreenOnline. It is the applicant’s responsibility to be aware of and adhere to closing dates and times.

You can apply online to all ScreenWest funding programs by logging in with your ScreenXtra subscriber details. ScreenWest prefers applicants to apply online. If you are unable to apply online you can download a PDF application form (found on each funding program webpage) and follow the delivery instructions.
