Funding Overview

ScreenWest's funding and support programs are designed to:

  • Foster the development and production of quality, marketable film and television projects;
  • Expand the creative and professional development of Western Australia's film and television program makers; and
  • Promote Western Australian screen culture.

ScreenWest and the Western Australian film and television industry gratefully acknowledge the support of Lotterywest, which provides over $4 million each year in support of the schemes initiated by ScreenWest.

If you are applying for funding from ScreenWest, we highly recommend that you also consider Screen Australia funding programs, in addition to ScreenWest's funding initiatives. Screen Australia is the Commonwealth Government's new screen agency replacing the Australian Film Commission, Film Australia and the Film Finance Corporation. Screen Australia provides support to Australian film, television, documentary and digital media makers. Priorities

As part of ScreenWest's Strategic Plan 2006-2011, the following funding areas were identified as key priorities (It is assumed that animation is included in each of these areas);

  • Drama production
  • Indigenous production
  • Factual production, especially documentaries
  • Innovative digital production

How to Apply

Before you submit an application carefully read the ScreenWest Terms of Trade and the specific program guidelines to ensure that you/your project is eligible for funding. Then check that you have all the supporting material that is required for your application. It is critically important - to assess your application in line with all others - that you clearly address the relevant criteria in either the support material or a covering letter.

You can now apply online to all ScreenWest funding programs by logging in with your ScreenXtra subscriber details. ScreenWest prefers applicants to apply online, which is a fast and easy process. If you are unable to apply online you can download a PDF application form (found on each funding program webpage) and follow the delivery instructions.

Late or incomplete applications are not accepted. In exceptional circumstances, applications for limited support (under $5,000) may be considered between deadlines.
